Indie Füde was established by Johnny in 2014, sourcing independent and indigenous food and drink products from the island of Ireland for their stores in Comber and Ormeau.
Their collaborative Banana Block venture blends the art of cheese making, a love for community and sustainable business practices.
At the minute we are focusing on soft Italian style cheeses (Velo Cheeses), then onto developing our own specific cheeses for Indie Fude including the collaborations with other tenants of Portview/Banana Block. The likelihood is that this will be in year two as we develop and test the recipes over time in our maturation room. We are also looking at making by-products from the leftover whey… Whey Caramel (a Dulce de Leche basically), Brown Cheese (famous in Norway), Whey Butter, and a Whey based drink. We also envisage hosting cheese making and cheese pairing classes at our unit at Banana Bloc
