Making Sense of the 3rd Dimension” is an evolving collection of audio-reactive visual performances and interactive live art installations by Belfast-based artist Sean Walker, known by his creative alias Pedestrian Pinball. This body of work explores the concept of reality through the senses — a multidimensional experience that questions how we perceive, interpret, and move through our environment.
The project is a play on the word “sense”, simultaneously referencing the sensory experience and the act of making sense of existence itself. Through the sensory interplay of touch, hearing, and sight, Sean constructs immersive environments that blur the boundaries between physical and digital perception.
The recurring male pedestrian symbol — a signature motif in Sean’s practice
— functions as the protagonist throughout the exhibition. Its inclusion carries
multiple layers of meaning: a playful nod to the artist’s own name (Walker), a
reflection on identity and alienation (as the figure often represents the
universal yet faceless “everyman”), and a self-referential joke about the
artist’s shaved, pinball-like head. In this context, the “pedestrian” becomes
both a symbol of movement and metaphor for the human condition, navigating
the unpredictable game-like nature of modern life — a recurring theme in
Sean’s Melatec aesthetic.
