The winning artworks from RSPB NI’s Artist of the Year competition will be on display in What’s the Story? from 18th September until 2nd October 2021 accompanied by a Bird Sound Take Over in our sound cones within the gallery. All coinciding with the Big Green Week!
About the Exhibition
As part of the charity’s Revive Our World campaign, the artwork judged by representatives from TEDxStormont, National Museums NI and artist Colin Davidson, explores the protection and restoration of nature in Northern Ireland to help combat climate change at a global level.
This exhibition builds on the idea of activist art, a term used to describe art that is grounded in the act of ‘doing’ to address political or social issues. It aims to show those in power why they should address the nature and climate emergency before it’s too late.
As part of the exhibition visitors are encouraged to make their own pledge for nature, showing how seemly small individual actions, when we do them together, can make a big difference, and conveying to our political leaders that they too need to match their words with actions to restore nature and fight climate change.
