A Kamayan, otherwise known as a Boodle Fight, is a communal style of eating in the Philippines. Banana leaves line long tables and are decorated with an array of Filipino dishes that are eaten with your hands (the base word for Kamayan is “kamay” which means “hands”)! This is a very social way of eating and brings families and friends together for special occasions, or for just a standard dinner with your large family!
KUBO is a one of a kind Filipino food experience in Belfast. Born from tradition and family recipes, they strive to bring the flavours of the Philippines to Northern Ireland through modern techniques while educating about the unique Filipino culture through food, events and supper clubs.
Chris Frieze is a man that knows his records. Having fallen in love with collecting at a very young age his knowledge is tall and wide, becoming a regular selector for independent clothes store and brand @nevernevernow and Belfast Music Club in the process, where he happily digs for B-side oddities, psychedelic lost gems and playful floor-fillers. A free-thinker in every regard, with no interest in passing fads or trends. Chris is also on the brink of releasing the first record on his own record label – Mystic Arts.
Joris Minne is one of Northern Ireland’s most respected food critics and writes a weekly food column for the Belfast Telegraph. Joris is local champion for the NI foodie scene and is a regular commentator and reviewer for the BBC. He is also member of the Academy of Judges of the Restaurants Association of Ireland.
