Banana Block gets an interior makeover this August. Mary Anne Farenden of MA Designs has redesigned the Banana Ring to incorporate a whole new variety of plants from ferns and palms to grasses and evergreens.
Mary Anne, who has a FdSc in Horticulture, has delivered a project with Groundwork NI on the Colin Allotments as well as winning awards in her sector and appearing on RTÉ’s ‘Supergarden’ and BBC NI’s ‘B&B by the Sea’.
With assistance from a local team of volunteers, the ring will be transformed starting from Monday August 7th. The replanting will add to Banana Block’s offering as a living museum by providing the opportunity for learning and interactivity on material plant uses and biodiversity.
Banana Block will be open to the public as normal Wednesday August 9th through Sunday 13th however we advise visitors there may be minor disruption in the space due to the replanting.
